Nanit’s Helping Tackle Your Second Shift

We’re helping lighten your parental load this season by leaning in on the Second Shift.

The holidays are a time for joy, connection, and the inevitable to-do lists. For parents specifically, the magic of the holidays also means logging overtime hours during the Second Shift—the often-unseen evening timespan that includes holiday preparations, gift-wrapping, baking cookies, scheduling holiday plans, and managing everything from travel itineraries to family get-togethers. This all comes with added stress and the risk of holiday burnout. It’s a time when your child is tucked in for the night, and all of the little agenda items that didn’t make it into the day start to creep up. (You know the ones).

While parenting always involves an intense amount of mental load, the holiday season takes it to another level. There’s a social and emotional weight to managing everyone’s holiday expectations, plus keeping routines in place amidst all of the dinners and parties. For many, the unspoken responsibilities of the Second Shift can be both overwhelming and exhausting.

But this year, with Nanit by your side, you’ve got a partner, a direct report  (if you will) for your Second Shift. With our 24/7 smart monitoring, we can take over the night duties for your child, helping to alleviate the overwhelming stress that often comes with the holiday chaos, so that you can find a moment of respite.

Tips for Dealing with Holiday Stress

Nanit provides a unique way to share the load, particularly when it comes to both nighttime care and ongoing monitoring. With our sophisticated, around-the-clock functionalities, Nanit operates almost like an extra pair of eyes, helping to ease the exhaustion parents often feel during the holidays. And during a season that pulls us in so many directions, it’s a reminder that help is just a glance at your phone away.

How exactly do we do it? For one, our video and audio monitoring not only watches over your baby but also tracks their activity, delivering real-time alerts and insights exactly how and when you want them. So for parents who might feel stressed around infant sleep, we’re anticipating your child’s every move and sound and will notify you based on your specific needs. That way, you can sleep better and longer knowing that Nanit is always “on,” ready to alert you if your little one requires your attention. This automatic coverage during the Second Shift means you can enjoy a more restful holiday season, even if your baby throws you for a loop (helloooo sleep disruption!)

Making the Holidays About Connection

Nanit’s nightly support also offers a unique gift: the chance to relax and reconnect. By covering the Second Shift, Nanit provides a layer of security and peace of mind that will allow you to be more present with your partner and to find moments of recharge amidst the holiday hustle and bustle. This support also frees up time for social engagement, enabling you to enjoy gatherings and create meaningful connections during the season.  It’s this kind of support that takes the strain out of the season, giving you and your partner, or maybe your older child, the space to enjoy each other. Every Nanit feature—from real-time alerts to Care Logs to sleep and development insights—is designed to lighten the load for parents. With Nanit, the holiday season becomes less about balancing tasks and more about connecting with loved ones.

At the end of the day, the magic of the holiday season is about being present and sharing moments with family. Whether it’s hosting a holiday party or simply soaking in the warm feeling of togetherness, Nanit helps parents do that by empowering you to shift your focus from the Second Shift of nighttime monitoring to enjoying a quiet evening with a loved one, putting on The Holiday (again), or simply resting without worry. For any parent, that’s a true gift.

In a world that demands parents to juggle everything—especially during the holidays—Nanit’s steady, supportive presence serves as a reminder that you don’t have to do it all. The Second Shift, the mental load and the unseen hours don’t have to be yours to carry alone. With Nanit, you have a partner, a night watch, and a little bit of breathing room this holiday season.
